Alva – soft and warm alpaca yarn

Alva is a fine, two-ply yarn spun from Peruvian alpaca fibers. Soft, warm, and lustrous, Alva is suitable for a wide range of projects. This fine yarn is excellent for combining with other yarn types and serves as a great alternative to fine mohair yarn.

Alva uses the same high-quality fiber as Vilja.

The alpaca is a South American high-altitude native belonging to the camelid family, which also includes llamas. Indigenous peoples of South America have used alpaca fiber for millennia. In the South American highlands, temperatures can fluctuate between -20°C and +30°C within a single day. Alpaca fibers are hollow and contain air pockets, making the fiber breathable in the heat and insulating in the cold—which is precisely why alpaca is excellent for clothing.
